A 37-year-old Stroud man has admitted offences of racially aggravated assault and burglary.

Cassius Adamson, 37, of Stroud, appeared before the court last Friday (September 18) and pleaded guilty to racially aggravated assault and insulting words or behaviour towards a man on August 6 2020, and a burglary in Slad Road, Stroud on the same date.

Adamson blames his racially aggravated offence on Tourettes syndrome and says he cannot control offensive language 'just coming out.'

He will be sentenced on September 29.

A former Gloucestershire cricketer who embarked on a ‘moral crusade’ to ‘blacken the name’ of his ex-partner after their relationship ended has avoided jail.

Grant Hodnett, of Hill Top Road in Stockton Heath, Warrington, was sentenced at Warrington Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to the charge of stalking involving serious alarm or distress.

The court heard how the 38-year-old batsman, who played for Gloucestershire between 2005 and 2009, sent derogatory messages about his former girlfriend’s personal life to her family, friends, employers and customers between June and August.

But the South Africa-born sportsman was saved by his ‘previous good character’ and a large collection of positive references.

Hodnett was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison suspended for two years and ordered to complete a two-year community order

A 22-YEAR-old Stroud man who robbed a steam railway enthusiast of his camera, wallet and mobile phone at knifepoint at Ashchurch Station, near Tewkesbury, has been jailed for three years and one month.
