The Revd. Joy Ludlow has been announced as the new Priest-in-Charge of the United Benefice of Thornbury and Oldbury-on-Severn with Shepperdine.
Bishop of Gloucester Rachel Treweek licensed Ms Ludlow at a service in St Mary’s Parish Church on Wednesday, October 7.
The service was attended by David Meara representing Christ Church, Oxford, a patron of both Thornbury and Oldbury, as well as the mayor of Thornbury Jayne Stansfield.
Debbie Dix, head of Oldbury-on-Severn Primary School, Karl Joyce, head of St Mary’s Primary School, Archdeacon Hilary Dawson and Area Dean David Russell were also present together with a number of representatives of the churches of the Benefice.
Paul Morrish, speaking on behalf on the Thornbury Church Wardens, said: “Many in Thornbury will already know the Rev Joy as she spent over three years working as Curate here and now we wish her much happiness, and God’s blessing, in this new role.”
A recording of the service is available to watch on the St Mary’s Music YouTube channel.
