Kingsgate Park, Yate, is the new owner of a beautiful piece of tree art, carved, by the talented wild wood carver Andy O’Neill.

During Storm Eleanor in January 2018 a large tree was damaged by the storms and sadly had to be cut back for the safety of everyone.

The Friends of Kingsgate Park decided that this would be an opportunity to create a work of art in the park, depicting many of the animals that either live or visit there.

Users of the park were asked how they would like to see the tree carved and Friends of Kingsgate Park received many suggestions.

A spokesperson for the Friends said: "From the suggestions we received, Andy worked with the tree as to how it lent itself to certain images and has produced a magnificent work of art.

"We would like to thank the many organisations that contributed to make this possible including local stores Tesco and Waitrose, South Gloucestershire Council, the Chipping Sodbury Lions, Yate and District Rotary club and The Vintage Birdcage Cakery."
