A MUM has thanked a generous stranger who paid for her pub lunch in Dursley in a random act of kindness.

Louise Pegler visited the Old Spot with her husband and new baby daughter to enjoy a quiet lunch.

Halfway through their lunch, a member of staff came over to inform Louise that a visitor sat on a table nearby had paid for their lunch.

She said in a post on Dursley Matters: "So my husband and I with our baby daughter went to the Old Spot to enjoy a quiet lunch together to catch up without the older two kids.

"It's been a lovely perk we've enjoyed whilst he's been working at home and I'm on maternity and we'll miss it in lockdown.

"We were halfway through our lunch when a member of staff came over and asked if we knew the man who had been sat on the table behind us.

"We replied no, and she said oh, well he's just come to the bar and paid for your lunch!

"We were so shocked and it has made our week and restored our faith that even in these troubled times, we can still be kind, even to strangers.

"So, to the kind, generous stranger, thank you so much.

"We will be paying it forward and trying to make someone else smile as you did for us today."
