Football Shirt Friday is held today with fans urged to don their favourite jersey, share a selfie, and donate £5 to charity to raise awareness of the fight against bowel cancer.

The fundraiser is held in partnership between the Bobby Moore Fund and Cancer Research UK, Football Shirt Friday is now into its eighth year.

English football's greatest ever captain, Bobby Moore died aged just 51 from bowel cancer. It wasn't his first brush with the awful disease, having surgery for testicular cancer just two years before he captained England to World Cup glory in 1966.

Businesses across the district are being urged to get involved with the campaign, and with so many people currently working from home it's easier than ever to dig your favourite team's strip out of the wardrobe to raise money for the worthy cause.

Current England captain Harry Kane is also backing the campaign.
