DURSLEY Library is open for collection services during the current period of restrictions.

Although visits to the library are not possible during the lockdown, readers can still arrange for books to be borrowed and can access online services.

The services currently available are:

Off the shelf:

The reader completes an online form stating the type of books or other items they would like and staff then select on their behalf from the stock held at the library they have chosen. They will then receive an email asking them to choose a time slot for collection.

Reserve & Collect:

To reserve and collect, readers search the online catalogue, find the items they wish to borrow and reserve them. When the item(s) arrive at the selected library, they will receive an email asking them to select a time slot for collection.

To browse the online catalogue visit: https://gloucestershire.spydus.co.uk

Ring & Read:

Those without internet access can call their nearest libraries and request the type of stock or title required, which can then be collected.

Access to public computers:

Some libraries are able to provide limited access to public PCs for essential use only, such as printing. Photocopying is not available and there will be restrictions on internet access. Sessions of up to 50 minutes need to be booked in advance – walk-up access is not available.

All collections will be managed with social distancing. Those who haven’t yet joined the library and want to browse the digital catalogue and take advantage of the collection services, should go to www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/libraries/join-the-library/

Cllr Dave Norman, cabinet member for libraries at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “We know how much people value their local library so we’d like to remind them of the services that are still available while the current restrictions are in place. Customers can still collect books if they are without internet access by contacting their local library.

“I’m grateful for the hard work library staff are continuing to do behind the scenes and we are looking forward to them fully reopening again after the lockdown.”
