Family Food 4 Free have launched a number of incentives this December to try and help families over Christmas.

The team are asking people to complete reverse calendars, starting today, to help towards hampers and Christmas meals to be made available to vulnerable members of the community on December 23.

Locals are also asked to donate luxury items for the hampers such as mince pies, biscuits, chocolates and Christmas puddings, for people to be able to collect along with a Christmas meal.

The family would like to add any, very good condition used, or brand new toys to each hamper so that each child in a vulnerable family, will receive a gift.

The latest plans to help families need come after nine months of offering a free meal service from their home.

The team have been recognised for their ongoing work within the community, recently winning a community focused campaign launched by the Mall at Cribbs Causeway.

Out of thousands of nominations, Aimee and Dan Waters won the campaign, Together In Spirit, with more votes than any other nominated people.

With a little help from Pippin the elf, Santa surprised them with a very special delivery of Christmas treats.

A spokesperson for The Mall at Cribbs Causeway said: "It's hard to imagine anyone doing more for their local community than the Waters family.

"Since the first lockdown in March, this family have been providing food, essential items and rescue packages to growing numbers of individuals and families in Bristol."

"Aimee and Dan are evidently not used to thinking of themselves and it was an emotional moment for all when they realised that Santa and Pippin were here with a gift for them.

"Their youngest daughter Aurora, was gifted an Olaf and immediately put it to one side to be gifted to a child from a family in need.

"What is evident from the campaign was that they have done so much more than provide food - they have created a community based on friendship.

"Aimee and Dan have brought people together, inspired others to volunteer, reached out and helped some of the most vulnerable people in our community, reunited families, and forged real hope in a difficult year. "

Family Food 4 Fre launched their Reverse advent appeal today and will require all items to be delivered by Sunday, December 20 to enable safe delivery in time for Christmas.
