A warning has been issued following two burglaries in Dursley yesterday (Tuesday).

Police were called to two break-ins where offenders had forced entry by smashing rear patio doors.

Both incidents happened between 4.30pm and around 6pm.

In one of the burglaries nothing is believed to have been taken, however a quantity of cash was stolen from the second home.

Gloucestershire police have issued the following warning: "With the dark nights police are urging people to remain vigilant to suspicious behaviour and to ensure they keep their properties secure day and night.

"The darker days and earlier nights provide an opportunity for thieves to try and gain access to homes, cars and sheds.

"Quick and simple actions such as using timer switches with lights, locking doors and windows and avoiding posting to social media when you're not home, could help prevent your home from being burgled."
