Children are being warned to remain vigilant after two separate incidents of a man jumping out of bushes in front of them in Yate.

Extra patrols are being undertaken by the local neighbourhood police team following the reports of the man acting suspiciously.

The first incident was at approximately 8.25am on Thursday November 26 and again shortly after 3pm on Monday, November 30.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police said: “A member of the public has reported that a man jumped out of bushes in the Kingsgate Park area on two occasions in front of children.

“The man did not follow the children, who quickly left the area.

“We would encourage parents and carers to remind children what to do if they are approached by a suspicious stranger: shout to draw the attention of others or run home or to the nearest busy public place and tell a responsible adult straight away. "
