POLICE are urging homeowners to be vigilant after an intruder gained access to homes in Dursley and Cam.

The first incident took place in Prospect Place in Dursley on December 28, at 8.30pm.

After coming through an unlocked garden gate, a man gained access to the resident's home through an unlocked rear door.

Once inside, he was spotted in the hallway by the homeowner.

The offender, who was wearing a waterproof jacket, then left the property.

The next incident happened on Norman Hill, Tilsdown in Cam on December 29 at 2.30pm.

A resident who was at home found a man was walking up their stairs.

He told the intruder, who said that he was looking for a friend's house, to leave and ushered him downstairs.

He then left the address and he was witnessed by the resident walking towards Tilsdown Road in Cam.

The intruder is described as a white male, 5ft 8in, with thick long curly hair, an Irish accent, and of a thick set build and aged in his early 40s. He was wearing a olive green dark jacket.

Neither of the residents were harmed and it is understood that nothing was stolen from their properties.
