A video has been released of police breaking up an illegal party in Bristol on Friday.

The footage was captured on an officer's body worn camera, and shows dozens of people being dispersed.

Two 19-year-old men were fined following the incident, which is believed to have taken place at one of the University of Bristol's halls of residence.

Chief Inspector Justin French, of Avon and Somerset Police, issued the following statement: "Officers attended a residential premises in Frogmore Street, Bristol, at just after 11pm, where a large number of people had gathered for a party in clear breach of the Covid-19 regulations.

"Those attending were dispersed and two 19-year-old men were given fixed penalty notices.

"It's hard to believe those involved in this gathering would be so reckless and act without care or thought about the impact their actions will have on the community in which they live.

"This is a deadly virus and rates in Bristol have been rising, which makes their actions even more reprehensible.

"We have dedicated patrols in place throughout the weekend to respond to breaches of Covid-19 legislation and officers and staff will continue to work round-the-clock to play their part in helping to stop the further spread of this virus."
