Women in Yate are being warned of a potentially dangerous man lurking in bushes after two females were chased by a strange man in Yate last week, on two separate occasions.

Police have been informed about the two incidents after a balding man leapt from the bushes along Kennedy Way.

He jumped out near the carpark underneath Tesco Extra, and then chased his terrified victim as she returned to her car on Friday morning.

After reading about the report on Facebook, a second woman came forward to say she had been victim to an almost exact incident in early December.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police said: "A woman reported a man who had been hiding in bushes chased after her at about 9.10am on Friday, January 15. She ran into the supermarket car park to get away, later reporting it to police and posting about it on Facebook.

"A second woman saw the Facebook post and called police the following day to report a similar incident which happened to her at about 6.50pm on Tuesday, December 1. "

Women are urged to head for a busy public area, to run straight into a shop or call 999 immediately if they find themselves fearful for their personal safety due to the behaviour of a stranger.

The man in question was described, by both women as his 40s or 50s, they both clarified he was balding, but one said he also seemed to have long hair on the sides but bald on top.

One said he was wearing black trousers and a blue coat. The other said he was about 6ft tall and slim.
