THE pub lease of the The Berkeley Arms in Purton has become available.

The venue, which is owned by Berkeley Castle Estate, has a riverside setting and includes outbuildings with potential for conversion.

Details, including the price of the lease, and the turnover and profit of the pub are available on request from estate agents, Fleurets.

Fleurets say the estate would like the pub “to become a well known destination public house on the banks of the River Severn”.

Describing the pub in its advert, Fleurets says: “The Berkeley Arms is a cottage style public house constructed on ground and first floors.

“Our clients, the Berkeley Castle Estate, want to invest in this public house to enable it to have a secure future and to become a well known destination public house on the banks of the River Severn.

“The site comprises not only the public house, but also the outbuildings and barns which offer the potential for conversion, perhaps to letting rooms or function facilities.

“There is also the opportunity to include a number of fields, if that is of appeal to prospective lessees. “We would recommend first assessing the property’s unique setting between the River Severn and the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal.”

The pub is currently closed, and viewing is by appointment.
