Three out of ten people in South Gloucestershire have now had their first Covid vaccine jab according to latest statistics.

In its weekly data release, NHS England has published vaccination figures by constituency for the first time with almost 90,000 across the Filton and Bradley Stoke, Kingswood and Thornbury and Yate having received a Covid vaccine so far – amounting to 31% of the total population of the district.

More than 34% of the population of the Thornbury and Yate constituency have now received their first jab, with 31.8% in Filton and Bradley Stoke and 27.4% in Kingswood.

With the UK vaccination programme averaging more than 2.5million doses a week, the Prime Minister aims to ensure every adult is offered a jab by the end of July.

More than 19 million people have received a vaccine so far – equivalent to 1 in 3 adults – which is the third highest per capita, behind only the UAE and Israel. In addition, only two countries have administered more doses than the UK – China and the USA.

Everyone in the top four priority groups has now been offered a vaccine and invites are now going out to those in priority groups 5 to 9, with the latest figures showing that two-thirds of those aged 65 to 69 have now been vaccinated.

Councillor Ben Stokes, Deputy Leader of South Gloucestershire Council, said: “It is really pleasing to see how successful the rollout continues to be across South Gloucestershire and I want to thank the public, NHS staff, volunteers and everyone else involved for the huge team effort that has gone into this.

“It is important that while this rollout continues, everyone continues to stay safe and abide by the rules as we start to take steps out of lockdown in order to keep our communities safe and to stop the spread of the virus.

“I strongly urge everyone to have their vaccine when called on, as every jab will bring us one step closer to normality.”
