Gloucestershire business Avida Care, the specialist in-home care company, has merged with major independent South West provider Nobilis to offer more support to elderly and vulnerable adults across the county.

Nobilis officially brought Avida into the Nobilis family at the end of February and is set to make Stroud its county hub.

They have plans to build on the business’s existing five office administrators and 35-plus carers; this includes building a new training academy in Stroud to inspire and support the next generation of home-grown carers, plus additional investment in IT infrastructure and recruitment.

The merger also coincides with a new care contract that will offer support to elderly and vulnerable adults across the county who prefer to live independently with the support of local carers in their communities. The level of interest for in-home care for vulnerable adults has never been higher. Even before Covid-19 struck the UK, families were searching for new ways of caring for loved ones as an alternative to traditional care homes.

Nobilis believes living at home should be a rich and satisfying experience and that caring is a passion and a responsibility.

Nobilis carers work in partnership with families to help with any responsibility or task that helps elderly or vulnerable adults retain a measure of independence at home.

Commenting on the acquisition and new contract, Nobilis managing director Peter Harrington said: “Nobilis already has a significant presence in Gloucestershire, delivering care in Stroud, Cheltenham and Cirencester.

"Avida is a fantastic business particularly in offering specialist care, working closely with the NHS on complex, end-of-life care, and we’re looking to share that knowledge across our entire business, while bringing our own in-home care expertise to families across Gloucestershire.”
