Our readers nominated the top 15 takeaways in Cam and Dursley, Thornbury, Yate and Sodbury, and we’ve been profiling each of them so you can choose the Gazette Series Best Takeaway 2021 winner.

This week we’re showcasing venues in Cam and Dursley, starting with the Great British Takeaway, which Louis Fantis has been running in Kingshill Road for 14 years.

Manager Zac Lydra and the team have been working hard to adapt to lockdown restrictions, introducing a click and collect service and taking phoned in or in-person orders to be as flexible as possible.

“At the beginning of the pandemic it was difficult but it has settled down a bit now and we’ve got new ways of working,” said Zac, from Worcester.

Asked how he felt having been nominated for the top 15 takeaways, Zac said: “It’s really good; amazing. It’s always nice to know that our customers are happy with what we’re doing and support us.”

“For us, winning would mean recognition for my staff and all the hard work they’ve put in, it would tell us that our customers thought our service is good and they’re happy with it.”

If you think the Great British Takeaway should be crowned the best takeaway, you can vote for them using the voting coupon in this week’s paper (Thursday, March 25) or next week’s (April 1).
