A PUB in Cam is ready to keep customers warm at its outdoor reopening today - with hot water bottles.

The Railway Inn reopened its doors at 2pm today (Monday) as the next phase of Boris Johnson's roadmap came into place.

Under the new restrictions, groups of up to six people from any number of households, or groups of two households can visit an outdoor space in a pub.

But with the current cold temperatures, landlady Sharon Brimble wanted to make sure that customers could stay warm and cosy, while sitting outside in the pub's beer garden.

"It will be outside seating only until May 17," she said.

"And we just want to make sure our customers are happy and we will do whatever it takes to do that.

"The hot water bottles were a quirky little idea that came to me one night."

The bottles are available to pub customers for a £5 refundable deposit.

"I personally would rent a hot water bottle if a pub offered the opportunity to do so," added Sharon.

The Railway Inn team has spent the last few months of lockdown getting everything ready for the reopening and say they are looking forward to welcoming customers back.

"Booking is not necessary, so please don’t feel like you have to stay away," said Sharon.

"We learnt from the previous re-opening, we have plenty of room for everyone.

"Of course if you wish to book please feel free to do so by texting us on 07821978182. Tables for a maximum of six people can be booked in advance."

The pub's one way system is back in place and there is table service, as before.
