THE Cam and Dursley community is in mourning after the devastating loss of 'cheeky and compassionate' lad, Joshua Hall.

Flowers, candles and cards have been left at Cam Sports Club in his memory.

As Cam's young people try to deal with the loss and to come to terms with what has happened, both The Door and Rednock School are offering support.

The Door, a charity which provides youth services in the area, said: "Any young people needing support or to talk through their concerns, are encouraged to reach out to Kathleen, our lead youth-worker for Cam and Dursley or their local youth-workers in Stonehouse, Wotton and Stroud."

David Alexander, head of Rednock School said: "Everyone has a fond memory of Josh and that is what we are going to concentrate upon. We have spoken to Josh’s family who want him to be remembered with love and affection. Our community are writing their memories down so that the school can collect them and pass them onto his family.

"Working with Josh’s family, we are focusing upon the positives which will come out of this – the strength of the community, the outpouring of affection for Josh and the desire to support each other through this difficult time.

"As a school, we have received many, many messages commemorating Josh and offering support. There is a real sense of the community – including the School – pulling together. Josh would have wanted that.

"As a school, we will be proactive in supporting our students and the community. We have already put steps in place, including trained staff, to support students and other staff to ensure that they can process this news and grieve for Josh. It is important that we all support each other in this difficult time."

Full details of how to get in touch with The Door can be found at thedoor.org.uk or contact a member of the team in confidence on the Door Line 01453 705350 (5pm to 7pm Monday to Friday).

Support for parents is also available.

Joshua, 17, was stabbed at Cam Sports Club on Friday afternoon, and died at Southmead Hospital later that day.
