THE headteacher at Rednock School has paid tribute to pupil Joshua Hall who died on Friday.

David Alexander said: "We are deeply saddened to hear of the tragic passing of Josh Hall. We have sent our condolences to his family and will commemorate his memory.

"Josh was the proverbial cheeky lad who had a twinkle in his eye and a mischievous grin. He was well liked by his peers and the staff. Everyone has a fond memory of Josh and that is what we are going to concentrate upon. We have spoken to Josh’s family who want him to be remembered with love and affection. Our community are writing their memories down so that the school can collect them and pass them onto his family.

"Working with Josh’s family, we are focusing upon the positives which will come out of this – the strength of the community, the outpouring of affection for Josh and the desire to support each other through this difficult time.

"As a school, we have received many, many messages commemorating Josh and offering support. There is a real sense of the community – including the School – pulling together. Josh would have wanted that.

"As a school, we will be proactive in supporting our students and the community. We have already put steps in place, including trained staff, to support students and other staff to ensure that they can process this news and grieve for Josh. It is important that we all support each other in this difficult time."

Joshua, 17, was stabbed at Cam Sports Club on Friday afternoon, and died at Southmead Hospital later that day.
