CINDERELLA will finally go to the ball as restrictions lift further in May

A group of seasoned performers including former Gazette reporter Ross Arnott, are preparing to welcome back audiences to Chipping Sodbury as the town hall opens for its first theatrical production in over a year.

A rip-roaring showcase of the fan favourite pantomime Cinderella is set to open on Wednesday, May 26 after productions in January were halted due to the third lockdown.

Due to continued restrictions the capacity will be halved, meaning tickets have almost sold out.

There will be nine performances and the show will be 75 minutes long without an interval.

Seating will be on tables of four or six for each household or bubble with table service throughout the production.

Director Rob Creer said: “I love panto, it’s something that the whole family can enjoy in a safe environment.”

Families can expect all of the silly characters, catchy songs, dances and hilarious routines plus a couple of extra magical surprises.

The production is set against a stunning animated set.

“Our fabulous cast of eight professional performers can’t wait to get back on stage and bring some smiles to local faces, ”he added.

Producer James Murden who also plays Buttons said preparing for the show has been a new experience.

“We’ve definitely had to do things differently this year, rehearsals have been via Zoom but it’s shaping up to be a brilliant escape from the year we’ve all had,” he said.
