The travellers that have set up an encampment in Brimsham Park, Yate, have until Wednesday to move on according to a post by local South Gloucestershire councillor Ben Nutland.

Residents first spotted camp being set up on the land owned by South Gloucestershire Council last Tuesday, when there were two caravans and three other vehicles.

Over the weekend a further 13 caravans and a number of other vehicles descended upon the site in Long Croft and South Gloucestershire Council confirmed earlier today that bailiffs will serve notice tomorrow.

Councillor Ben Nutland said in a Facebook post: "Once bailiffs have served the notices they (the travellers on site) will have until Wednesday to move on."

In a separate post Mr Nutland said South Gloucestershire Officers had 'worked around the clock' to resolve the issue.

Reports of new sites are remotely risk assessed and are only visited if they are then deemed urgent or high risk. Normally the Corporate Traveller Services Unit would visit daily until the camp either voluntarily leave or are forced to by bailiffs.
