A FUND has been set up in memory of a severely neglected Great Dane who was cared for in Cambridge, after being 'dumped' in a park.

Arthur, a Great Dane cross, was emaciated and struggling to walk when he was brought to the Cotswolds Dogs and Cats Home in March.

Following an appeal to help pay for Arthur's medical costs, staff at the rescue centre said they were inundated with donations and support.

And thanks to the kind donations, Arthur was able to receive the care he needed for the last few months of his life.

But today it was announced that due to the seriousness of his health issues, Arthur has passed away.

However, the dog described by staff at the rescue centre as 'a big friendly giant' will not be forgotten.

To support animals that come into their care just like Arthur, who need that little bit of extra help, the centre's team have set up a memorial fund in Arthur's memory.

Haley Medlock from the centre said: "Arthur had made so many friends and supporters over the past couple of months and we can’t thank you enough.

"In Arthurs memory we have created a little fund to support animals that come into our care just like Arthur who need that little bit of extra help.
