A hearse carrying Josh Hall, who was murdered at Cam Sports Club in April, will proceed from his family home to Dursley town centre on Thursday, May 20.

Josh’s family have asked for anyone who wishes to pay their respects to line the streets of the route and clap as the hearse passes by.

His journey will take Josh past Jubilee Skatepark, where friends have organized a gathering with balloons and banners.

“The main location that means the most to his mum and to us is the skatepark so we’ve got all of our mates to make something really nice up,” said Kieran Woodford, one of Josh’s closest friends.

“We always used to go down to the skatepark and we’d literally spend all our time there.”

“The other locations are where we used to hang out. It would be nice if people were at those locations.”

This includes China Chef in Cam, Norman Hill and Rednock, where Josh and Kieran went to school.

Josh died in Southmead Hospital after allegedly being stabbed outside Cam Sports Club on April 16. A 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with his murder and will face trial later this year.

“We just want everywhere to be filled with banners and people clapping it [the hearse] on and just positivity instead of it being negative,” said Kieran.

“Josh’s parents said to spread love and kindness, and at a time like this that’s the main thing that needs to happen.”

In a tribute, Josh’s family said they wanted their son to be remembered not for the senseless act of violence but for the love he brought to life.

“He helped people in their darkest hours and their lives are better because of his presence,” they said.

Kieran said: “Josh Hall was my best mate. I classed him as my brother, we were always up to something and always having a laugh.

“Josh never took life too seriously. He always had a cheeky smile on his face and he could make you smile just from a glance. Josh will forever be missed and the memories of him cherished. Fly high lil king.”

The hearse will leave Josh’s family home, which is reserved for family and close friends, at 9:20am before heading passed the Shell Garage to Jubilee Skatepark, Cam, for around 9:30am.

Gazette Series:

It will pass by China Chef in Cam and around Indoor Outdoor in Dursley before driving through Norman Hill and Kingshill and arriving at Rednock School for around 10:05am. The hearse will then travel to Dursley town centre for 10:10am via the ‘Rec’ playing field, which is located behind the swimming pool on Kingshill Road.

Kieran and Josh’s family encourage people paying their respects to line the streets at these locations and anywhere else along the route displayed in this map.
