A lane will be closed along Scott Way from Monday as Wessex Water start sewer repairs in Yate.

The first stage of the upcoming roadworks starts on Monday, June 14 and will continue for five weeks.

There will be a lane closure southbound to allow work to be safely carried out in the grass verge, with teams repairing sewer pipes to prolong their life and help prevent flooding.

This will be followed by a second phase of sewer lining work during the summer, with Heron Way closing for four days from Monday, August 2.

The road will be closed from the Rodford Way roundabout to Merlin Way junction with a diversion in place.

Wessex Water will be using the latest ‘no-dig’ techniques, meaning work can be completed more quickly and won’t require deep excavations in the road. Customers’ water and sewerage services will not be affected.

Josh Bentley, who is coordinating both phases of the project, said: “This is essential work to reduce the risk of sewer collapse, flooding and potential environmental damage. We’re sorry for any delays caused.

“The lane closure in Scott Way is necessary for the safety of road users and our workforce, while the closure of Heron Way has been timed to coincide with the school holiday to minimise disruption.

“We’re also liaising with the local bus company regarding temporary stops and routes during the Heron Way work.”
