Two care home residents have celebrated their 100th birthdays.

Peter Ching, a resident at Grace Care Centre in Thornbury, reached the milestone on Sunday, June 20.

The team at the care home, run by The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT), spoke to Peter and his loved ones in the weeks leading up to the big day to make sure he had a birthday weekend to remember.

Last Saturday, Peter had an indoor barbecue with friends and fellow residents. There was also a performance from a belly dancer after Peter had enjoyed a previous visit they made to the home.

Peter's friend and fellow resident Tony has a passion for baking and he helped make the 100th birthday cake. The café and dining areas were decorated for the party and everybody wore 1940s attire to mark one of Peter’s favourite eras.
