A beautiful muntjac deer was spotted in a Yate garden this week, standing still enough to be caught on camera.
Ange Watmough was delighted to snap a picture of the deer, identifiable by the markings on its face and short antlers that slope backwards.
The small, stocky animals were introduced into the UK from China in the 20th century and are notorious for eating woodland herbs, bramble and shoots.
Muntjac deer are also known as the 'barking deer' and are about the same stature as a medium-sized dog.
