A 33-year-old man arrested last week in Kingswood has been released pending further inquiries and is now under the care of mental health services.
Armed police from Avon and Somerset were called to Church Road near Kingswood leisure centre last Thursday following reports of a man displaying threatening behaviour to members of the public on Church Road near Kingswood Leisure Centre.
Staff and children at St Stephen's Junior School in Kingswood were instructed to stay indoors as police hunted the man.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police said: "A 33-year-old man arrested in connection with an incident in Kingswood last Thursday in which threats were made towards member of the public has been released under investigation while enquiries continue."
