MOTORISTS might feel like they are melting behind the wheel in a heatwave but the roads the drive on literally are.
Gloucestershire County Council has been dusting roads around the county, the surfacing being put down to soak into melting bitumen that threatens to destabilise the structure of roads.
Work has already taken place on the A38 Tewkesbury bypass, the B4211 Worcester Road at Corse and the B4078 on Evesham Road and Winchcombe Road, to the north of the village of Winchcombe.
The council will continue to monitor other roads with the potential to be affected.
1/2 Can you feel the heat? ☀️ Our roads can too.

The mini heat-wave has caused some roads to melt (literally). We do what we can to make them safe. You may see the crew to dust the affected roads; this will absorb the soft bitumen and stabilise the surface. pic.twitter.com/FExmZBkWJF
