Thornbury Art Club’s summer exhibition returns this weekend.

Last year’s exhibition was held virtually but an end to Covid restrictions means it can take place in physical form once more.

The free exhibition is running from July 24 to August 1 at Thornbury Methodist Church Hall. It will be open from 10am-6pm each day, except for Sundays when it will be open from 2pm-4pm.

Paintings will be available to purchase and visitors will be asked to vote for their favourite.

Chairperson Mary Drown said: “This year we are looking forward to an “actual” rather than virtual exhibition.

“We are especially excited this year as we ourselves will be seeing the efforts of our members, who have been working in isolation for the last year, being assembled together in one place.

As we hang the exhibition, it will be the first glimpse of what we know will be a very diverse and interesting show, the more so because people have been exploring new interests during lockdown.”

As in previous years, Thornbury Stroke Group will be exhibiting with the art club.

“The stroke group members, added to our club members will make for an exciting and interesting exhibition with an increased range, variety and diversity of submissions,” added Mary.

The stroke group has a new exhibition team this year comprising Heather Morgan and Andrea Redman.

Similarly, the art club has a new exhibition secretary, Fiona Foyer, on board this year.
