A South Gloucestershire primary school has been named the best in the UK at skipping.
St Andrew’s Primary School in Cromhall have been awarded the accolade by the National Skipping Challenge.
In 2020 the Year 5 and 6 children started daily skipping sessions, practising the different skills from the National Skipping Challenge and submitting their improving scores each week.
There are six different categories to compete in: continuous crossovers, pretzels, double Dutch, double unders, face to face and keep the pot boiling.
Not only did the school win both national titles but two of the children, Eddie Johnson and Zach Perrin, broke records that had been set back in 2003 for the number of continuous crossovers.
Eddie also won the individual trophy for best skipper.
Last Thursday Harry Galley, from the National Skipping Challenge, visited St Andrew’s to run workshops with the children and present them with their trophies.
