Thornbury Volunteer Centre has raised more than £2,000 by hosting a four-week pop-up shop at The Swan pub.

The funds will enable the group to continue its work for the foreseeable future.

A huge range of items were on offer, donated by family and friends over the past two years when no pop-up shop was possible.

Development co-ordinator Kim Webb said: “Even more importantly than the money raised, the shop allowed us to showcase our volunteering opportunities and spread the word about volunteering to the local community.

“It made local people more aware of us and we have so far registered 12 new volunteers.

“We thank everyone who helped but special thanks go to Sandra Davies, Kelvin and the Swan team for allowing us to take over their skittle alley and for their support and good humour, not forgetting the drinks and the ice creams. Thanks also to Thornbury Rotary Club for help with Covid supplies.”
