MOTORISTS in Yate were furious on Tuesday morning after a spate of vandalism saw a huge number of parked cars spray painted with bright blue paint overnight.

Vandals seemed to target mainly white cars with police receiving numerous reports of damage.

Outraged residents took to social media on Tuesday morning as it became apparent that a spate of offences had occurred with cars all over the town painted in bright blue paint.

Police received reports of cars targeted across north, south and central Yate including in Glenfall, Hollybrook Mews, Longford, Stanshawes Drive, Witcombe and Wellstead Avenue.

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed in some cases, residents had more than one vehicle marked.

Jazzmine Lyall ,who is 23-weeks-pregnant, had her white car spray painted across the bonnet.

Although she was able to clean most it off she has been left with a scratched headlight and blue remnants in areas she can’t get to.

She said: “I think the people who have done this are inconsiderate, irresponsible and have no feelings for others who could be struggling.

"I am 23 weeks pregnant and having to wash my car at 6.30am was not a wanted task.

“It’s not funny, it doesn’t achieve anything for them so why do it.”

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Thankfully it seems in most cases they have been able to clean the paint off.

“Neighbourhood officers have carried out house-to-house enquiries and are reviewing CCTV.”
