Deaths

PHYLLIDA PARSLOE

Professor emeritus, D. Sc., beloved sister of John Parsloe and his wife Maggie, and beloved aunt of their children, Thomas, Alice and William, died on 1st September, aged 90, at The Lion House, Thornbury, after a long illness in the devoted care of Georgios Kalampokas.

There will be a committal at the Quaker burial ground in Lower Hazel on the morning of Wednesday 22nd September.

There will be a service at 2.30 p.m. at the United Reformed Church, Chapel St., Thornbury, South Glos. BS35 2BA.

Phyllida was a Quaker and the service will be based on Quaker practices.

Unfortunately for Covid reasons, numbers have to be limited but the service will be zoomed, so anyone wishing to attend or watch the service should contact Gulwells on 01454 418779.

After the service everyone who was a friend of Phyllida is invited, whether they attend the Service or not, to a reception at Phyllida’s house, The Lion House, Castle Street, although again numbers may have to be restricted, particularly if it is raining and the garden cannot be used.

John Frederick

Passed peacefully away on Sunday 5th September at Rose Garden Nursing Home, aged 85 years.

Loving Husband, Dad, Gramps and Great Grampy.

Dearly loved by all the family.

Much loved Wife, Mum, Sister and Mum-in-Law and Grandma, died unexpectedly on the 15th August aged 67.

She will be missed greatly by all her loving family who will remember her in their hearts always.

Douglas (Doug) John

Died peacefully at home on 9th September 2021 aged 88, after a long illness bravely borne.

He was gentle and patient, much loved by Joan, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He’ll be sadly missed by all and remembered fondly as a teacher and organist helping many children and adults enjoy making music.

There will be a private family cremation.

A memorial service will be arranged later.

The Doctors and Staff at the Culverhay Surgery and the District Nurses, OTs and Physios cared for him most lovingly over his illness. We were so grateful for all their support which enabled us to care for him as he wished, to the end of his days.

Passed away peacefully at home on 2nd September 2021 aged 73.
