CHIPPING Sodbury Town Council declared a Climate Emergency in 2020 and in May 2021 published their action plan on the town council website
The council hosted the first ever Climate Fair on Saturday at Sodbury Town Hall.
The event was a free and friendly exhibition to help start a conversation and an action plan for a better future. Members of Climate Action Yate and Chipping Sodbury (CAYACS) and volunteers organised an exciting mix of exhibitors, talks, free giveaways, and information and advice stalls.
The event provided activities for children, the chance to test ride an electric bicycle, talk to EV owners about the benefits of electric cars, and three talks on ecology, water as energy, and waste and recycling. There was a limited supply of free trees and wildflower seeds.
Over 400 visitors also had the chance to win LED bulbs and an energy audit for their home.
The fair raised over £200 for Cancer Research UK with sales of homemade cakes and hot drinks.
