The founder of Cotswold-based sustainable food producer, The Wild Hare Group, has been shortlisted for the ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ award at the Southern Sustainability Awards — marking a successful year of growth and enterprise for the brand.

The Southern Sustainability Awards, which will take place at St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton on the 28th October, seek to connect professionals across the UK to celebrate their contribution to the fight against climate change.

The ‘Entrepreneur of the Year Award’ is designed to recognise an individual who has founded and run a successful green business, while demonstrating true entrepreneurship in taking risks to build an innovative green business.

Dominie Fearn, founder of The Wild Hare Group and the entrepreneur at the heart of the brand, commented: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted for this award and I’m looking forward to an evening of celebration to mark a successful yet challenging year with other like-minded business people. For me, being an entrepreneur is all about perseverance and believing in what you do. The climate focussed goal of Wild Hare serves as an inspiration to me to continually develop and evolve our offering in a way that genuinely makes a difference to the planet. Receiving recognition for this is wonderful – and it’s just added inspiration to carry on striving forward.”

The Wild Hare Group was born amidst the rolling hills of the Cotswolds and with an extensive network of local high welfare farmers, it celebrates the culinary offerings of not just the area, but wider British produce too. With provenance at the heart of the business, the brand aims to represent those farmers who form the backbone of its signature ready meal range.

Cooked fresh every week by professional chefs, the Wild Hare ready meals allow for optimum nutrient uptake and easy digestion. The meat used in its products is outdoor reared on grass, with the poultry coming from high welfare farms, which ensures all products coming from British farmers share the same sustainable objectives as Wild Hare – an aspect of the brand that was key to Dominie’s shortlisting.

Dominie continued: “The concept of Wild Hare stemmed from a conversation between myself and a local regenerative farmer and since then we have consistently supported the progressive agri-industry, while looking to do everything we can to support the wider environment in our approach – and this award shortlisting underlines our ongoing commitment.”
