An Olveston woman is continuing her quest to provide Christmas presents to children who would otherwise go without.

Mo Lewis is organising a toy appeal for a fourth year in an attempt to ensure no local children wake up on Christmas Day to find no presents. “That is unthinkable to most of us, but sadly it is an all too frequent occurrence,” she said.

“In each of the preceding years I have been lucky to have a level of support that has been nothing short of unbelievable.”

Around £2,500 has been donated each year in toys, cash, Boots gift vouchers, toiletries or knitted items for babies. This has ensured that each year more than 100 local children within Bristol and South Gloucestershire have been given presents.

The gifts are distributed by the Salvation Army, the charity behind the scheme, who have a list of needy children who will benefit from having the presents.

A video explaining more about the scheme is available to view on Mo’s Facebook page.

Mo can be contacted on motoyappeal@gmail.com or 0795 814 0896.

She can make collections in the Thornbury/Almondsbury/Olveston area or gifts can be brought to 13 Daldry Gardens, Olveston.

The deadline for this is noon on Sunday, December 5.
