A MICHELIN recognised chef has taken over the King's Head House Hotel in Eastington.

Ethan Rodgers, formerly of the Lucky Onion Group and head chef of Cirencester Park Polo Club, achieved both a Michelin Bib Gourmand and two AA Rosettes by the time he was 25.

He took over the pub at the end of last year, and is now launching a special cider Sunday lunch menu at the pub.

Linking up with new cider company Just Pressed, the lunches are a fundraiser for a charity supporting those with Motor Neuron Disease.

Cheltenham cider company, Just Pressed, is run by Gloucester and Italy rugby player - Jake Polledri.

And on Sunday, January 30, a special three or five course menu will launch the hotel’s Sunday roast, with each course being paired with one of Jake’s ciders.

The main course is roast leg of middle of Duntisbourne pure bred Gloucester Old Spot that will be paired with Boomfa Cider.

There will also be a cheese course of Jonathan Cump’s Farm House Gloucester Cheese, another local ingredient, something close to Ethan Rodgers food philosophy.

“As soon as I met Jake I knew we had to work with him,” Ethan said.

“It is a great local product, with the apples sourced from west country orchards, that is something we are trying to embrace here at the King's Head, both on our Sunday lunch menu and our evening food offering.

"Churie and Toby (Duntisbourne Farm Beef) are known for their sustainable beef and pork and we want to use suppliers like this.

“The guys are donating the profits from the five course cider menu to Jake’s chosen charity which is My Name 5’ Doddie Foundation.

"We have chosen a rugby charity to support for this event, we are now taking bookings so please get in touch as spaces will be limited,” Ethan said.

The My Name 5’ Doddie Foundation was set up by Scottish rugby international Doddie Weir. In June 2017 the Doddie revealed he was suffering from Motor Neuron Disease. It sets out to help fellow sufferers and seek ways to further research into this, as yet, incurable disease.
