STROUD MP Siobhan Baillie has responded to the latest allegations about the Downing Street 'parties'.

This comes as MPs across the country have received a lot of correspondence from their constituents.

Siobhan Baillie MP said: "I feel disheartened and let down by the information coming out about Number 10 so I completely understand the anger and dismay of local people."

"As you can imagine, I have received correspondence on this.

"I am replying to all those who have contacted me.

"People across Stroud, the Valleys and Vale were making big sacrifices in the first lockdown to ensure their loved ones were safe. We all did.

"On the May 2020 day in question, I was in labour, initially at Stroud Maternity Hospital and then Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

"My husband was allowed to be at the birth but not allowed to be afterwards.

"He had to leave after the baby was born.

"So many people have stories about complying with the rules when it appears that civil servants and some in government were drinking.

"I have heard no acceptable defence or even a decent explanation at the moment so I do think we need to wait for the Sue Gray report.

"While the media are understandably focused on the Prime Minister, there were a lot of other people involved so her investigation should be given the space it needs as requested.

"It is a great shame all this has overshadowed the booster programme, economic improvements for the country and that we are finally seeing changes to our approach to the pandemic and restrictions.

"However, I fully understand why that is the case."
