This year's The Apprentice series was back with all the drama and competitiveness we wanted to start the year with a bang.

The second episode saw the 15 candidates battle it out to win over Lord Alan Sugar and his aides, Baroness Karen Brady and first-ever The Apprentice winner Tim Campbell.

The first episode of The Apprentice was watched by 4.6 million people, making it the show’s most popular launch since 2017.

The candidates are in for a winning prize of a £250,000 investment from Lord Sugar.

Kathryn Burn, an entrepreneur from Swindon, made it through the first episode as project manager of the girls' team, but how did she do in episode three?

She is hoping to win over Lord Sugar to expand her pyjama business, which launches in January 2022.

How did Kathryn Burn do in episode three?

This week, the candidates were asked to create a new range of non-alcoholic drinks which they had to pitch to retailers.

They were sent to Mercato Metropolitano in London which hosts artisan food and drink and split into different teams.

On Team Diverse was Francesca, Brittany, Nick, Aaron, Harpreet, Alex and Akeem.

PM Sophie from Team Infinity was set on making a spicy drink under the direction of PM Sophie, who owns a cocktail bar.

The rest of the team included Akshay, Kathryn, Amy, Navid and Stephanie.

"Sophie was quite passionate about going for spicy. I think that's quite niche," said Kathryn.

"It might be that if we pull it off, and we pull it off well, it could be fantastic but we need to get it right and that's what I'm worried about."

Kathryn was put on the branding team as team leader.

Team Infinity came up with a peach drink, which was less spice and more pepper.

Each team was then sent to get feedback on their products and pitch it to retailers.

In the boardroom, Kathryn said to Lord Sugar after he tasted the drink: "A big thing that came up with the buyers was there was no mention of peach on the label.

"However on the branding team, we weren't to know that. It was a key point that was missed."

Team Diverse had 10,675 orders from the buyers, compared with Infinity's 2,502.

The winning team was sent to TT liquor for a cocktail-making masterclass.

In the bridge cafe, Kathryn argued that she wanted more spice in the drink.

Branding was a big issue in the team, with the finger being pointed towards Amy who came up with most of the design.

"As the branding team, we did what we were told at the meeting," said Kathryn.

"You actually said you quite liked the label," she said to PM Sophie.

The final three left in the boardroom were Sophie, Navid and Akshay.

Who is still in the series?

This week, Navid failed to impress Lord Sugar and was fired from the boardroom.

Unfortunately, children's nursey owner Shama Amin, 41, quit the show in a dramatic exit before the first task.

Shama said: "I would just like to say something, Lord Sugar, if that’s OK. I suffer from a condition called rheumatoid arthritis.

“Because of medical reasons, due to this process being so physically demanding, despite the efforts the whole team has made to support me, I’ve had to make a difficult decision to leave the process.”

Lord Sugar said: "Well Shama, I’m really sad to hear that. I wish you and your family all the best for the future.”
