PETROL prices continue to rise as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine puts strain on the fuel industry.

Petrol prices have soared in the UK since the invasion of Ukraine, with unleaded prices increasing by 3.5% and diesel prices by 4% in just 2 weeks.

Fuel prices have hit a record high and data now shows the average cost of a litre of petrol at UK forecourts on Sunday was 155.62p.

The average cost of a litre of diesel reached a new high of 161.28p on Sunday.

Near Yate the BP garage on Bristol Road was the most expensive for petrol yesterday, selling unleaded for 161.9p.

The Shell garage on Badminton Road in Downend was dearest for diesel, a litre will cost 169.9p.

Morrisons is the cheapest place to go for petrol in Yate at present, with petrol priced at 151.9p, but Sainsbury's at Emersons Green has the cheapest diesel at 152.9p per litre.
