CHILDREN from across Yate and Chipping Sodbury joined in a huge Easter Egg hunt as it made its welcome return to a local park.

Yate Town Council and the Friends of Kingsgate Park invited local children to take part in the popular annual Easter Event that took place at Kingsgate Park in person for the first time in 2 years.

On bank holiday Monday over 600 children arrived to participate in the Easter Egg Hunt and 54 entered in the Bonnet Competition.

Councillor Karl Tomasin, Mayor of Yate, supported by his Cadet Matthew Bamford, had the difficult job of picking their favourite designs and presented first prize to Jack, 2nd to Esme and 3rd to Billy . All entrants received an Easter Egg for their efforts.

A spokesperson for the event said: "We would like to give special thanks to our sponsors for their kind donations of eggs and funds which enable this free community event to take place, including Murray Hire Centres, Wards Solicitors, Avon Sportsground Maintenance Company, Landcare Nursery Ltd, Re-Energise Events, Whirlpool Corporation, Morrisons, Waitrose and Tesco, together with Friends of Kingsgate Park and Yate Town Council staff volunteers and Councillors who worked hard to facilitate this occasion."
