A 12-hour music, food and drink extravaganza is promised at the ever-popular beer festival in Chipping Sodbury this Summer.

Sodbury Fest will play host to some of the best local acts including musicians dancers and singers as well as beer, cider, gin and food to make the music go with a swing.

The music starts at 11 am at Chipping Sodbury Rugby Club in The Ridings, Chipping Sodbury and goes right through to 11pm on July 2, with original music and cover versions for all to enjoy.

It is a one-day revival of the successful festival run for many years by the Rotary Club of Yate, who have now handed it over to Chipping Sodbury rugby club.

Nick Cragg, of Country Property, who is the festival music co-ordinator and will be MC on the day, said: “From a local singer-songwriter performing her debut album through a steel band providing Caribbean influences to an evening of rock anthems it is promising to be a brilliant day with something for everyone.

“It will be great to get everyone back together again at this local event after a few years when music events had to be cancelled. We are welcoming local food and drink producers and there will be a souvenir brochure of the event for people to buy.”

A 16-year-old local musician is set to open the show. Yasmine K-D and her musicians will play a selsction of her self-penned tracks that feature on her debut album The Thread, which is scheduled for release in August.

At Noon four-piece band Decanter, led by Alex Tyler will take to the stage followed at 1pm by Room 6, a female-fronted band entertaining with pop covers..

Covers band, The Peppercorns take to the stage in the afternoon followed by a 15-piece Bristol-based Community Steel Band, a jazz funk band and then popular local dance troupe Street Cred.

From 7pm the FooPhonics bring the music of the Foo Fighters and Stereophonics to the festival. The band, who have 10 years of gigging under their belt, were previously known as Dockside.

For The Record, and then Liquor & Poker will be rocking out with everyone’s favourites to complete the evening.
