ST NICHOLAS football club are hosting the first tournament in the area since the pandemic and we popped down to catch some of the action.

240 teams are signed up to take part in the football tournament that is taking place at The Ridings on Wickar Road and day one was filled with great football, lots of fans and lots of sunshine!

Teams have travelled from all over Wales and the South West to compete in the competition and organisers say they have the highest amount of teams ever and over 1800 children will compete in the largest tournament in Bristol this year.

Having caught the semi final for the under 10 boys competition and then the subsequent final, the highlight of the day was U10 Imperial's goal keeper Lennon Kibbey showing unbelievable sportsmanship.

After winning a penalty shootout to go through to the final, the young keeper immediately ran to the opposition keeper to hug the child who was visibly upset on the ground.

Then, in after winning a nail-biting final against St Nicks U10s, the boy once again, ran the length of the pitch, bypassing his own team who were celebrating, to console the St Nick's keeper.
