Two members of the Beaufort Hunt have appeared in court.

Master of the hunt Matthew Ramsden and second whipper-in Rhys Matcham both denied hunting a wild mammal with dogs.

The case relates to an incident in Brokenborough, near Malmesbury, on September 13 last year.

The pair are alleged to have hunted a wild mammal with a dog and that the hunting was not of a class exempted by Schedule 1 to the Hunting Act 2004.

Both men pleaded not guilty to the offence at Swindon magistrates court on Wednesday, May 11.

Ramsden, 35, of High Street, Badminton, and Matcham, 30, of Kennel Drive, Badminton, were both remanded on unconditional bail.

A case management hearing is scheduled for May 25 where the date of a two-day trial will be fixed.
