THOUSANDS of people descended on Yate Town Football Club as the areas biggest ever music and comedy event took centre stage.

Comedian Jason Manford headlined a comedy gala at the Good Times on the Pitch festival on Sunday night to finish the event that saw over 5500 people attend the football club over four days.

A huge selection of acts including the worlds best tribute act, the Bootleg Beatles, Cbeebies favourite Andy, with his band the Odd Socks and Britain's Got Talent contestant Titan the robot, all came to the South West Interiors stadium in the first ever showcase of its kind in Yate.

The event kicked off on Thursday evening with the Beatles tribute act, followed by 90s legend DJ Pat Sharp and ABBA tributes on Friday, Pink and ColdPlace on Saturday.

Manford and his friends, Milton Jones, Aurie Styla and DJ Hammersmith closed the show on Sunday evening after a family fun day with Andy, the odd socks and Titan.

Event organiser James Murden, promised the event would be back next year with another huge line up.

“We’ve had the most incredible few days of shows and I couldn’t be happier," he said.

"Over 5500 people came to party with us and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, we are already making plans for next year”

“It took a huge team to make it happen and I’d like to thank the production team, helpers, marshalls, parking attendants, bar and catering staff and the Yate Town staff, it was a huge team effort”

Mark Thorne, commercial manager at Yate Town added: "It was a spectacular few days- thank you to everyone who came down and supported the event. We are looking forward to next year already!"
