A THORNBURY charity is holding a month of special events to celebrate the work of the inspirational woman who founded the organisation.

JIGSAW Thornbury supports around 400 families who have children with additional needs or disabilities in the region.

The group supports families as far as Quedgeley, Tetbury and Weston-super-Mare from a venue in the heart of Thornbury.

JIGSAW June has been celebrating founder and CEO Tor Goodman who is standing down from her role.

Hattie Clayton will stand in as interim CEO.

Tor set up JIGSAW in 2013 with a group of friends.

She said: "I want to take this opportunity to thank every single one of you for supporting me in my role and enabling my dream to become a reality.

"I am leaving in the knowledge that JIGSAW is in very safe hands. I will be back soon, as a parent and benefitting from the organisation in a different way.”

Speaking on behalf of the JIGSAW trustees, Robert Cadman added: “Bob Hope famously said 'If you haven't any charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble.

"Tor has been inspirational from the very beginning by having the biggest heart.

"We all have busy lives, meeting her inspired me to make time and become a trustee to this her legacy, JIGSAW.

"I have worked with Tor over the last several years and can honestly say that it’s been an honour.’’

To join in with JIGSAW to raise much needed funds to deliver their plans for local children and young people with additional needs or disabilities, and their families go to jigsawthornbury.org.uk/donate
