A DURSLEY man has admitted assaulting a police officer and shoplifting.
Shawn Ettery, aged 34, of Kingsway, Kingshill, Dursley, was dealt with on Monday, June 13.
Cheltenham Magistrates' Court heard how Ettery assaulted the officer on May 2 last year in Bournemouth
He admitted a charge of assaulting an emergency worker.
Ettery was given a community order which includes a curfew and a drug rehabilitation requirement.
A 60 day curfew with electronic monitoring began on the day of the hearing requiring Ettery to remain at his home address from 7pm to 7am every day.
To address addiction issues, Ettery must undertake six months of treatment with the Change, Grow, Live service.
He must also pay costs of £85 which has to be paid by July 11.
Ettery also admitted wilfully obstruct a highway on the same day but no further penalty was imposed for that offence.
At the same hearing, Ettery admitted three shoplifting offences all of which occurred last year.
He stole goods worth £15 from Spa Stores in Wareham, Dorset on February 14, alcohol and household items to the value of £30 from a Co-op in Poole on March 20 and Woodpecker cider from a Co-op in Bournemouth on August 21.
For these he must pay compensation of £15, £30 and £5.50 respectively by July 11.
His guilty pleas were taken into account when imposing sentence.
