CHIPPING Sodbury's most iconic festival made its return on Saturday - and it did not disappoint.

The annual Sodfest beer and cider bash returned this year after being cancelled for the past three due to Covid.

Chipping Sodbury Rugby Club took over the reins from the town Rotary Club who had successfully managed the event for many years.

Event organisers said the sold-out event which kicked off at 11am and ran through until 11pm exceeded their wildest expectations.

Aidy Page, one of the organisers, said: "This festival exceeded the wildest expectations of everybody here at Chipping Sodbury Rugby club and we sold out!

"We are hugely grateful to the community for making it the biggest and best event in Sodbury this year and we are all so pleased to finally be back after three years."

Chipping Sodbury Mayor James Ball who opened the event added: "Huge congratulations to all involved in putting on such a wonderful event.

"It was great to see over 1,600 people out enjoying themselves after a dreadful couple of years with Covid.

"Well done to Nick Cragg for working so hard throughout the day compering, Sodbury Rugby Club for hosting the event and all of their stewards, marshals and bar staff for making it such a successful Sodfest!!

"The music was great, the sun came out, the food was superb and the beers were cold. What more could you want on a summer's day in Sodbury. Well done all"
