DURSLEY Rotary Club has raised over £14,000 this year to mark its seventh decade of supporting people in the community.

The Rotary Club of Dursley said they were excited to be entering their 70th year helping to improve the lives of people in our local community and others around the world. 

So far this year the club have raised over £14,000 for good causes. This has included a successful street collection in aid of Ukraine.

A spokesperson for the rotary club said: "We recently donated £250 each to eleven local charities.  

"Cam Youth Club, Cam 1st Scout Group, Bournstream Trust, Rednock Young Carers, GL11 Community Hub, Stroud Women's Refuge, Breakheart Quarry, Tumpy Green RDA, Allsorts, Motor Neurone Disease Association and Dursley Food Bank all received funding from us."

The club's next big events include an engineering challenge for Year 8 students at Rednock School.

The tea will then helping at Dursley Summer Festival and their annual classic car run which takes place on Sunday, July 17.

At their recent presidential handover Chris Cherry took over from Chris Wellings.

Mr Cherry said: "I am hugely looking forward to my year as president of Dursley Rotary club. What a special year to become president in this, our 70th year."  

The club are keen to attract men and women of all ages and backgrounds.
They meet on Mondays at 6pm at The Oak at Kingshill. 

Chris added: "The amount of time you give to Rotary is largely up to you. 
"Whether you come to every meeting or just offer to help at some of our events and projects, you will be welcome."
