POLICE arrested a man in his 50s today, who had travelled to Cheltenham to meet a child where it was alleged child sexual abuse was planned.

The man had travelled from East Sussex in the last few days.

He'd believed he had been talking to an adult with access to a child and had arranged to meet them in the town, according to police

Officers from the Gloucestershire Constabulary Child Sexual Exploitation team worked alongside colleagues from the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit to arrest the man following his arrival in the area.

He was arrested on suspicion of arranging the commission of a child sex offence and remains in police custody.
